The Impact Of Program Music In Games
-----------The Impact Of Program Music In Games
One also really important part of one video game is its own program music as well as author songs used in it.
The top companies from the gaming industry spend, actually INVEST a lot of money in developing better and
better mrogram music for their games as well as hiring better and more skilled composers as well as musicians
and they also invest a lot of money in all the needed equipment and always look forward to keep up with the
newest and latest technological advancements in the music industry so that they can gear up themselves with
the best music equipment available at that particular time. With these things done, they are ready to compete
in the market in the gaming world having to offer real high-quality music that makes all the different ambients
in one game and that also arouses many emotions during gameplay.
All this is because music really does matter and really does affect the games’ power, influence, attractivness as
well as affecting the sales raste of it. This is because the audiences are more animated by the music that they
listen to while playing, it mekes them to fell the ambients and situations more vividly and realistically than
when there is no music going at the background. Sometimes the music arouses fear, sometimes sorrow but
also sometimes it can arouse joy, calmness, fury, fierceness, transcendance. And this is why we do lave games
apart from their stories or gameplay. We want to be adittionally aroused by something to really fell any given
situation in the game that we play and that adittional arousement is given to us directly by the program music
of the game that we play.
From all the companies out there, best to our knowledge, we can point out two companies which had made
games that had just extraordinary program music as well as tracks. Those companies are offcourse Ubisoft
and one less known, the french company DONTИOD. Ubisoft has several games such as the Tom Clancy’s
Splinter Cell franchise where they had their own orchestra and composer, Amon Tobin, but we would like to
talk more about their Far Cry 4 where they successfully managed to represent the oriental ambient of the far
east India and its devine spirituality through their program music composed by Cliff Martinez. Also the bands
that they chose for the in-game songs, The Bombay Royale and Panjabi as well as others, and their perfect
placement in the missions, made Far Cry 4 to be soo great that actually can make you fall in love with the
Indian music and culture.
The french DONTИOD did something wery different that Ubisoft. In their “Life is Strange“, they made us at some
times to feel joy, somtimes just numb, but sometimes, they made us cry out loud, especialy those who had one
particular choice for their ending. Jonathan Morali with his program music and the chosen tracks by Syd Matters,
Local Natives, Mud Flow and especially Message To Bears and certainly Foals with their Spanish Sahara, made us
the players to fully experience what Max and Chloe went through, all the emotions very vividly painted in our
minds and hearts, joy, satisfaction, sorrow, all of them. Simply the correct and perfect music choices that DONTИOD
made, made us to never forget “Life is Strange” and to always remember Max and Chloe.
