Q.U.B.E.
Q.U.B.E. or Quick Understanding of Block Extrusion is a physics-based puzzle video game developed
and published by Toxic Games. The game si simillar to The Turing Test, you need to use logic thinking
and perceptioning in order to pass through the chambers. The difference however, is in the higher
degree of complexity of the puzzles that this game has, though I’m not saying that The Turing Test
is less challenging, I’m just saying that Q.U.B.E. employs a much wider arrange of TYPES of puzzles,
in THAT sense, The Turing Test is ‘less’ competitive, otherwise, it is not. So, looking at the background
story of the game, it is about an astronaut who has been sent on a mission in an alien vessel that is on
a collision course with earth. His task is to decypher his way through and out of the vessel in order to
dismantle it and thus destroying the vessel and saving the earth. His in-mission contact is an
International Space Station astronaut codenamed Nowak. She guides him through the whole mission.
However, at one certain point he is reached out by an astronaut codenamed 919 who tells him that it
is all set up, that he is down on earths’ underground in a lab as a lab rat used for experiments for data
excavation. To this, Nowak reacts and tells the astronaut that 919 is a lost astronaut thought to be dead
in the moment when the ISS lost contact with his shuttle. In the end, there is a room with a shuttle ready
to take off and the proces of self-dismantlement of the vessel has begun and is in effect. As the astronaut
approaches the shuttle he is again contacted by 919 who is adamant that it will plunge the astronaut into a
furrance as he is no longer necessary. However, the astronaut seats himself into the shuttle and takes off
through the narrow corridor-like path. As he reaches the end a white blur emerges.
The next scene is him in space, in front of him is earth and behind is the self-destroying vessel.
Nowak was right.
