Far Cry Map Editors
-----------Far Cry Map Editors
Upon the release of Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4, Ubisoft, has each time released map editors. Those are downloadable for
Uplay users, a Ubisofts’ Online Platform. These aditors allow the users to create their own maps which can be played
online or they can use them just for fun. The map editing is from the basic design of the terrain (you can either have
land only or ocean only, or both land and sea, like an island or in-land lake, its freely your call) to the very detailing of
the tarrains’ appearance, such as vegatation, weather control, and as well as objects, vehicles and types of both enemies
and allies, from light (scouting) to heavy infantry.
The Map Editors, are in a way, more simplified variant of other, more proffesional and detailed map editors, such as
The Unreal Engine (See for more: “Unreal Engine 4”). This is so, because of the fact that in the Far Cry Map Editors you
don’t need to have any knowledge from code writing in C++ whatsoever, while this is the case in, lets’ say, the most
simplified proffesional map editor, Unreal Engine 4. However, The Far Cry Map Editors are still good editors with wide
varieties of objects and possibilities and they are still valuable for any serious good map to be created and sold or used
for the online players that use the multiplayer mode of the games mentioned.
They are easy to use, although it takes time for one to learn all the comands, tools and objects as well as possibilities that
can be used in order to make one fine little virtual world. They also, don’t feature some higher detailing possibilities which
would take some C++ code writing, something which, as we said, isn’t featured in them. Lastly, we would like to mention that
all in all, the Far Cry Map Editors are a satisfying product from Ubisoft that came free with the purchased games and knowing
that you have something good and is given to you for free, is awesome.
