Unravel
-----------Unravel
Yet another puzzle-platformer, single-player only for PC, PS4 and Xbox One and is relatively fresh for it was released back on
9-th of February 2016 by Electronic Arts with the Coldwood Interactive, Swedish development team directed by Martin Sahlin
with the production coordination by Michael Gill and Henrik Oja. A music composed by Frida Johansson and Henrik Oja and story
written by Martin Sahlin as well as the games’ design done by him with the help of Håkan Dalsfelt the games’ designer and artistic
appearance given by Dick Adolfsson. The core programming of the game was done by Jakob Marklund in the PhyreEngine.
Some claimed that Unravel was, "the most visually-impressive game EA showed". Initial reactions to the game also
drew comparisons to Limbo.
The game's backgrounds and puzzles are inspired by the breath-taking, lush environments of the landscape of Umeå, Northern Scandinavia, Sweden.
The game revolves around Yarny. Yarny is a tiny, apple-sized anthropomorphic creature made from a single thread of red yarn that slowly unravels as
he embarks on a seemingly larger than life journey.
Yarny explores the world around him that makes small everyday things look large due to his small size. By using the yarn his body is made of, Yarny creates
rope to form bridges, pull things, and swing from items. His yarn is the main medium used to solve complex puzzles. As Yarny moves, the twine which he is
made of unravels, creating lines that the player must use to solve puzzles to progress through the game. It also serves as an extra challenge, because if he
walks too far, he will unravel into a basic frame. This frame can be refilled by interacting with balls of red yarn in the game. It's always fun to play with physics.
It's not just about solving puzzles. It's also a big part of how you move. Sometimes it's just traversing, navigating. Since you always leave this trail behind you, you
can always grab it and climb on it and swing on it. You can do these really cool things when you combine stuff.
You will unlock a heartfelt story re-connecting the memories of a long lost family.
The take is told completely without words, and Yarny is the bond that ties everything together.
Having deeply analysed the story, the yarn that makes up Yarny represents love, and that he unravels as he travels away from what he loves.
