Prey Releases First 35 Minutes of Gameplay
-----------Video game publisher Bethesda Softworks has officially released a video of the first 35 minutes of gameplay for Arkane Studios' upcoming first-person shooter, Prey.
Bethesda Softworks, publisher of the upcoming science fiction shooter, Prey, has now released a video of the first 35 minutes of the title's gameplay online, that shows some of the abilities players will be able to use as protagonist Morgan Yu. Naturally, since the footage details assets from the start of the Arkane Studios-developed title, it's important for fans to know that the video will be very spoiler-heavy, for not only does it focus on the game's beginning, but also it features a fairly large plot reveal that could totally ruin the experience for those wanting to go into it completely fresh, so proceed with caution.
What's more to the faculties and prowess of Morgan Yu, the new video also offers up details about Prey's upgrading and crafting system. Additionally, it shows the dangers of encountering some of Prey's scary looking shape-shifters that Yu will have to go against.
While on the subject of enemies found in Prey, just before today's release of the first portion of the title's gameplay, Bethesda put out a video run down that gave an in-depth analysis of the shadow-like baddies' abilities, with the trailer focusing on various alien creature types that players will be fighting on the Talos I space station. Judging by the clip, each Typhon alien species seems to fit a specific role, as mimics have the ability to shape-shift into most common objects before they attack, while phantoms have the ability to shoot kinetic energy, and telepaths being the most dangerous with psychic powers.
What's interesting is that Prey's protagonist Morgan Yu has been shown using variants of the aforementioned enemies' supernatural abilities, with one appearing to be a Psychic Nullwave that shields from the effects of telepaths' strengths. Of course, the ability Prey fans are definitely most familiar with is Yu's shape-shifting power similar to that of the mimics, as the main character can turn into any object in the game, even toilet paper.
Prey is scheduled to release on May 5, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
