Capcom Hints at Monster Hunter on Nintendo Switch
-----------The producer of Monster Hunter, Shintaro Kojima, refuses to rule out the Capcom franchise coming to the Nintendo Switch, stating that he hopes players enjoy it on 3DS first.
Ever since the launch of Nintendo Switch, the console has offered up a unique selling point of acting as both portable and home console at the same time. As such, lots of Nintendo fans have been wondering if handheld-focused franchises such as Monster Hunter and Pokemon could make it to the system, and Capcom's Shintaro Kojima has given hope to those after the former. The producer refused to cancel Monster Hunter one day coming to the Switch.
According to Takashi Mochizuki, the Tokyo-based technology reporter from the Wall Street Journal, Kojima has not denied that the Monster Hunter franchise would come to the Switch. Mochizuki asked the Capcom producer if the series is coming to the Switch, and Kojima's answer was "hope you enjoy it on 3DS first."
Although this is far from a confirmation that Monster Hunter will be released on Switch in the future, it certainly gives fans some hope of seeing further releases for the home console market. After all, the main series has been available on portable devices since Monster Hunter 4, with only couple of spin-offs coming to systems other than the 3DS.
It remains to be seen as to exactly which games could make it to the Switch, but fans could be hoping that Monster Hunter XX might be the one to come to both Switch and 3DS. Capcom has recently released this updated version of Monter Hunter Generations in Japan, so US fans are probably hoping that a western port is planned, as with Monster Hunter Generations itself. If a release across both 3DS and Switch could also be agreed, then that would be great for the game.
