Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Free Multiplayer This Weekend
-----------While waiting for the new laser shooting chapter of Call of Duty series, Activision have announced that both the multiplayer and Zombies will grant double XP this weekend, starting from Friday 13th and running through Monday.
Starting from yesterday, the "Starter Pack" multiplayer components for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will also be available for free, including the base game that has it's price tuned down to $36. The free to play weekend lasts until May 15, while the price discount will run through May 16th.
In a recent developer conversation, was stated that the most interesting part of Black Ops 3 is the multiplayer in the whole franchise series, which received numerous modifications and upgrades in comparison to previous editions. The Black Ops III multiplayer starter pack that launched in February was selling for $15 and as the name suggests, this game version only contains the multiplayer mode, not the Zombies or campaign.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has had several free weekends on Steam, but it is clear that Activision wants to make use of the dust around the freshly announced continuation of the new space action Infinite Warfare, so they organized another free event before it hits the stores.
Alongside the Double XP weekend, Treyarch has made the Awakening DLC free on Xbox One for this weekend as well. Since the Awakening DLC is included in patch updates, players won't need to re-download any extras. To enter the free maps, head to the bonus playlist menu and select the Awakening playlist. Maps are also available and will show up on regular playlists as well.
Last week, four new weapons, taunts, gestures and specalist gear sets were introduced to the "Black Ops 3" Black Market. Among the new weapons are the FFAR, a melee weapon called the Slash N' Burn axe, the Skull Splitter and a launcher called the L4 Siege.
Treyarch have announced another feature the past weekend. The daily and weekly contracts will come back soon, but other than that, no other details about the contracts were discussed.
