Blizzard announced Reworked Ranked Play for Heroes of the Storm

Blizzard announced that Ranked Play in Heroes of the Storm gets a complete overhaul mid-June.

The game will introduce first ranked season, together with new tiers and divisions plus many other features. Reworks of Arthas, new builds featuring his symbolic Death Coil spell and some signature Death Knight abilities like Anti Magic Shield will also be introduced. Anub'arak will be more of a tank hero, and there are talks of Falstad receiving several talent tree reworks as well.

The tier-and-division system will separate players according to their skill and level, then note how close those players are being promoted and demoted to different tier, ranging them from Bronze to Diamond.

Top tier called Master will display the rank differently though. Masters will have badges that will show how many rank points they accumulated in that Master season's league. Grand Masters will be those Master league members who will be the top 500 point earners in the region. Their badge will note that numerical rank. Ranks are updated daily.

As a result of the new tier system, only players within one league tier of one another are going to be able to queue together as a party in the Hero League matches. Matches that will have a placement at the beginning will determine where the players will go, and in those, only the players who played their placement matches will get to party up.

Additionally, players with the silence penalty for bad behavior will not be able to queue up in the Hero League until that penalty expires.

Blizzard promised that the conclusion of the seasons will be awarded with "epic rewards", which can double up afterwards if they are playing both in Team and Hero League. The same announcement post revealed the new changes and some pre-season loot Heroes of the Storm will drop for top-ranked players before the official season gets under way.
