Street Fighter 5's Laura Gets Sombra Skin Mod

Sombra is the latest Overwatch character to show up in Street Fighter 5, thanks to a mod that swaps in the hacker's appearance in place of Laura Matsuda.

Overwatch's Sombra is out for about two weeks now and the expert hacker has become quite popular among the game's player base. And now it seems that Sombra is so popular that she's managed to hack her way into a different video game, Street Fighter 5.

A creative modder has found a way to create a Sombra skin for fighter Laura Matsuda. Some Street Fighter 5 fans did note upon Sombra's reveal at BlizzCon 2016 that the new Overwatch character bears a resemblance to Laura and so modder The JamK's creation isn't that surprising.

As can be seen in the trailer, Laura's abilities and emotes still look and sound the same while skinned, but it's pretty funny to hear 'Sombra' use a decidedly different accent than what players are accustomed to. Visually speaking, however, it does look like Sombra, a fact that perhaps shouldn't be surprising at this isn't the first time TheJamK has created an Overwatch skin for Street Fighter 5.

The same modder also created Street Fighter V skins for Mei, Tracer and Reinhardt, so he's clearly a seasoned pro at this sort of thing by now. Some gamers have seen that Overwatch's unique character designs seem to have attracted a lot of fighting game fans to Blizzard's popular FPS, so this kind of merger between the two titles feels pretty natural. Blizzard stated that it might be a little while until it releases another Overwatch hero, but when it happens, it won't be long until TheJamK or another Street Fighter 5 modder is on the case.

As far as support for Street Fighter 5 goes, Capcom recently announced that it envisions frequent updates for the game until 2020. On that front, the developer recently released a new stage that lets players fight on the wing of a moving plane. A lot of Street Fighters 5 players are looking forward to next week's PlayStation Experience in Anaheim, California, as Capcom has teased an upcoming character reveal for Akuma.
