Namco Bandai Interested in Making Dark Souls Mobile Edition
-----------Dark Souls series publisher Namco Bandai is interested in making a mobile adaption of their RPG, but From Software's leads don't think altering the controls is such a good idea.
Namco Bandai's Alex Adjaj, director of global strategy for mobile explained the different points of view between the publisher and developer.
"We'd like to bring Dark Souls to mobile, but it's very difficult because the guys at From Software are very much console oriented," he said. "To change their mind about it, it takes quite a while."
"The leads on Dark Souls are saying we don't want to do mobile because the controls would have to be changed, and therefore it won't be Dark Souls anymore."
Adjaj said that the game "could work incredibly well for mobile", Namco Bandai would have to take into account the tastes of different markets.
"I think there is a need to redesign the way you reroll in the game to make it a bit more casual, so with shorter sessions," he explained.
"But definitely it's something we could bring to mobile in a very successful way."
Lastly he said that they don't want to make as XCOM did with the game price at $19.99, as they are expecting two, three, four million dollar revenues.
Dark Souls 2 will launch in March 2014, for Xbox 360 and PS3.
