Dice Acknowledges Time as Battlefield's Main Rival
-----------DICE LA general manager says that the Call of Duty series are not Battlefield's main competitor.
DICE LA general manager Frederik Loving presented at the Montreal International Game Summit which occurred on November 11-12. Loving stated that he acknowledged Activision's Call of Duty franchise as a direct competitor, but it is not Battlefield's main competitor.
He later in his speech stated that time, not money, had become the main factor for the Battlefield fanbase. Loving noted HBO and Spotify as the examples of main competitors to the franchise.
“You never think about what type of data or tech is behind this entertainment. You just get fed entertainment on a weekly basis.”
He then went on to explain his own use of facebook as an example something he had put a lot of time into, which acted as a powerful motivator to continue using the same service even if a new competitor were to emerge.
Battlefield 4 was released earlier this month for PC and current-generation consoles, with next-generation version coming with the release of the consoles. Battlefield 4 has been praised for its revolutionary map design and addictive game modes.
