Amalur IP Worth $1 Billion?
-----------38 Studios founder Curt Schilling says that the Kingdoms of Amalur IP and the MMO Copernicus represent a billion-dollar opportunity for grabs on auction next month.
Curt Schilling the founder of the bankrupt 38 Studio said that no one has achieved what his company did with the fantasy series on Twitter.
"If someone were to buy Amalur, put team back on it, it's a billion dollar franchise," Schilling said. "2 years later and still no ones done what we we're doing."
Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter evaluation last year was that the Amalur MMO could bring $20 million. Schilling most likely was referring tho the potential for the franchise, not just the game.
Very little details are known about Copernicus. Following the bankruptcy in summer 2012, 38 Studios released a number of images and one flythrough video for the game. It is known that Copernicus was at one point planned to be a free-to-play game.
Bids are due in the auction by December 4. Proceeds will go to the state of Rhode Island, which assumed ownership of the franchises when 38 Studios and subsidiary Big Huge Games went bankrupt last year.
