Visceral's New Star Wars Game Will Be "Groundbreaking"
-----------Jade Raymond, general manager for Visceral Games has revealed that the upcoming Star Wars title is "groundbreaking" and that the game will tell a new Star Wars story.
Visceral Games helmed the hugely successful Dead Space series, and it's no surprise that the developer was selected by EA to develop a brand new game in the Star Wars franchise. Now, Visceral has shared some details surrounding the development progress on that project.
Opening up in a blog post at the EA website, the general manager of Motive Studios and Visceral Games Jade Raymond is enthusiastic about this new project, and expressed that the game in question will be "groundbreaking." Raymond, who left Ubisoft and then joined EA to work on Star Wars games alongside a new IP, exalted praise on the developers, suggesting that the Amy Hennig team will "take this project in groundbreaking directions," at that Visceral is "forging ahead into an interesting phase of development."
Just what exactly this story will contain is yet unknown, but Raymond has mentioned that more info about the title will be shared in the following months, as well as the new IP from Motive Studios that is supposed to be similar to Assassin's Creed. With Raymond signing off the blog post with "see you in a couple of weeks," there's the possibility that one or both of these games will appear at E3 2016 in some fashion. Admittedly, this new project from Motive Studios could even be the reveal of the new IP that EA has teased for E3.
So far, EA's use of the Star Wars property has been met with mixed opinions. The lack of a single-player mode in Star Wars Battlefront did not go over well with fans of the game, and there were suggestions that EA could achieve more with Star Wars. That said, between the Visceral project, Respawn Entertainment's new Star Wars game and whatever BioWare will unleash, the future of Star Wars video games looks bright.
