Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Revealed at PSX

To open the events of PlayStation Experience 2016, Sony has revealed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, a new standalone Uncharted experience that follows the series' Chloe Frazer.

The opening of PlayStation Experience 2016 started with a mysterious trailer for a new PlayStation 4 exclusive title. The trailer featured a woman in a hijab walking the streets of an unknown city as she moves toward a red door led by a cryptic text. The woman avoids being detected and captured by a group of militants as they go door-to-door, pulling people out of their homes and causing trouble on the street.

When that's over, however, she's confronted by a group of soldiers on a rooftop. A fight starts, with the woman and fellow female fighter claiming victory over the militants. The woman takes off her hijab, revealing herself to be Chloe Frazer, an iconic characters from the Uncharted series.

A year ago, when the PlayStation team was discussing Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, it became clear it was the end of an era. Nathan Drake, the series' main protagonist, was about to leave the series, but surely this wouldn't be the end of the Uncharted franchise. Luckily for gamers around the world, it's not. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which is a standalone chapter in the Uncharted universe, is the first step of the franchise going forward into the future.

For those unacquainted with the Uncharted series, Frazer was first introduced in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. She was revealed to have been in a relationship with Drake before the events of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the first game in the franchise. So far, the details about Frazer's past are scarce, though she's obviously skilled in hand-to-hand combat and treasure hunting.

Nadine Ross from Uncharted 4 will join Frazer. In a Thief's End, Ross plays one of the game's antagonists, so it will be interesting to see what role she plays in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Together, these two women seem to hint at the new title being a prequel to the previous Uncharted games.

Right now, there's no release date for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. When it does release, it will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
