The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Takes Up Almost Half of the Switch's Memory
-----------Nintendo has officially revealed the file size for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the game takes up nearly half of the Switch's hard drive space.
As originally reported by IGN, with the Switch having quite a small hard drive when compared to current generation consoles like Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One - its memory capacity stands at 32 GB, to be specific - and with Nintendo shipping the system with its own OS that will take up additional space, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will eat up a good part of the data available on the hardware. Thankfully, though, Nintendo has made fans sure they can upgrade the Switch's memory by using microSDXC cards.
No doubt, when looking at the file size for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and comparing it with some recent releases such as Grand Theft Auto 5's 50 GB-plus install size on PS4, the memory required for Nintendo's upcoming title seems tiny in comparison. Naturally, taken into consideration that the Switch won't be as powerful as consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One, Breath of the Wild won't need as much space to run.
In addition, Nintendo recently assured fans that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will not only come out for the Switch, but also the game will launch in March for Wii U as well. The Big N has revealed that the storage space required to play the upcoming RPG on the Wii U will be a bit smaller than its Switch version, weighing at 13 GB.
Now that fans have finally started to receive more solid information about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild since its launch date has been confirmed, it's safe to assume that the title is living up to its status as one of the most anticipated video games of 2017. However, some may be concerned about having to pay extra to make room for more Switch titles like the recently announced Super Mario Odyssey, but hardcore Zelda fans might be satisfied with having Breath of the Wild as the only title they own for the console for a while.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is set to launch in March 3, 2017 for Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
