The Banner Saga 2 Release Date for Consoles Revealed

It's been only a month after the launch on Mac and Windows PC, developer Stoic Studios said The Banner Saga 2 is set to be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on July 26.

This has been a fast turnaround for the game, taking in consideration that the console versions of the first Banner Saga game arrived in January, almost two years after it's original PC launch.

"Although our team size dictated what we could do with the first release, we knew that a two-year wait for the sequel was just not acceptable, so we worked extremely hard to ensure that console gamers could continue their journey in a timely fashion." said John Watson, Stoic's technical director in a recent statement. "Our goal for Banner Saga 3 is to simultaneously ship on all platforms," he continued.

"This sequel continued building on the legacy Stoic has created with the Banner Saga series. New players can jump right in and play the original game without any concern." has added Steve Escalante, the General Manager at Versus Evil. However, it is said that diehard fans who have completed the first game will be able to continue the saga based on choices made in the first part of the franchise.

The team from Stoic has done an amazing job, making sure that this sequel will be better than the first, and addressed most of the community comments that include improvements to the combat system, a wider variety of new characters to play and interact with, as well as the additional animations and cinematics.

The Banner Saga 2 is the latest installment from what has been planned as a trilogy from the beginning. The series started with a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised more than $750,000 in 2012. The Banner Saga is also available on PC.
