Hi-Rez Studios developer has confirmed that its MOBA Smite is set to release on PS4, coming out of its beta and joining Xbox One and PC with a full release of the game.

When popular genres of video games come to mind, it's hard to look past the MOBA. These highly successful multiplayer titles, such as League of Legends and DotA 2, have amazed large armies of fans and worldwide followings. As of now, it looks like PS4 owners are going to receive another MOBA to keep themselves busy, in the form of Smite.

With the recent update on the official PlayStation blog, Hi-Rez Studios developer has confirmed that Smite will be released in full on PS4, and its release date is coming very soon. The action MOBA title which has been in open beta for some time on the console, is scheduled to arrive next week on Tuesday, May 31. Senior producer Andy Anderson has recently posted “It’s official – Smite, the world’s No. 1 action MOBA, will exit beta and launch May 31 on PS4."

Although PS4 owners will finally be able to join the party, this simply means that Sony console users will be joining a vast and strong community across multiple platforms. The game is available in its full version on both Xbox One and PC, which so far has been received positively.

Aside from the interesting choice of heroes that includes multiple mythological characters such as the Greek god Zeus, this title delivers MOBA gameplay from a third-person perspective, instead of the top-down view most games have. Combined with action-oriented gameplay, Smite certainly stands out from other MOBAs available.

Hi-Rez Studios has made huge changes since the beta officially launched, including the frame rate push to 60, adding some new game modes such as Clash and Siege and more playable gods to the title, which brings the total number of playable characters up to 75.

Despite the fact that this game is set to fully release next week, it seems that Hi-Rez is far from finished with adding more changes. The developer promised to continue adding more content to the title every few weeks, with a Viking Event event set to release next week.

Smite will launch for PS4 on May 31, 2016, and is already available for both PC and Xbox One.
