Rise of the Tomb Raider Blood Ties DLC Trailer Revealed
-----------The newest trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider: The 20 Year Celebration reveals the first first gameplay footage of Lara Croft fighting zombies in her family's manor.
PS4, PC, and Xbox One players are soon going to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Tomb Raider franchise with a new edition of Rise of the Tomb Raider. Last year, the sequel to 2013's reboot was a game of the year contender and many gamers are prepared to revisit the adventure, especially considering the new content that comes alongside the package.
The additional modes were teased couple of weeks ago, but the latest trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider: The 20 Year Celebration finally gives a closer look at what will Lara encounter back at her family's manor.
In the new Blood Ties mode, Lara is taken to Croft Manor where she must investigate her claim to the family estate. Furthermore, the clue-hunting mission also has a new manor mode called Lara's Nightmare that presses Croft up against hordes of zombies. The zombie mode twist may sound unusual for the franchise, but the Tomb Raider series is definitely no stranger to the supernatural.
The atmosphere of the new content looks a lot more like a horror game than many fans were probably expecting. By the looks of the jump scares, zombie fights and third person adventure perspective, this actually seems to be more like the Resident Evil franchise than the latest RE7 trailer.
Gamers who own a PS VR can play Lara's Nightmare mode in VR, so it will be interesting to see how fans react to that experience. With VR still being a bit of a niche market, it's imporant for these AAA experiences to succeed in selling the technology to the less hardcore gaming crowd. It appears that a Tomb Raider VR experience built around solving puzzles and exploration may have been more appropriate for the franchise, but here's hoping the zombie shooting gallery is well-executed enough to make up for the lack of originality.
Rise of the Tomb Raider: The 20 Year Celebration will launch on October 11, 2016 for PlayStation 4, and it is now available for PC and Xbox One.
