Respawn Talks About Titanfall Beta
-----------Respawn’s community manager Abbie Heppe revealed around 2 million people played the game.
The Titanfall beta opened its gates on February 15 to all players on Xbox One and later all PC players as well. By the time the beta ended around 2 million people played the game. "We had around two million unique users playing during the beta," Heppe said.
Even though the beta has a promotional benefit, Jon Shiring a Respawn engineer said that the Titanfall beta was also an important test for for Xbox Live compute, Microsoft’s cloud computing technology. "Forza used it a little bit, but they weren't as reliant on it as we are," he said. "The game is completely reliant on it. If it's down, nobody can play."
Shiring said that the game might still run into problems on launch, but the beta helped them out find and fix 10 "real things."
Abbie Heppe also spoke about the game design and tweaking certain weapons. "The designers spent a lot of time watching videos and streams of people playing to try and look and see how they were abusing things or not understanding things."
Titanfall will launch on March 11, for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
