No More Zombies in Rust
-----------Developer Facepunch Games says that "there are already enough ways to die."
The latest patch for Rust is probably bringing the first ever decision to remove zombies.
"We decided we couldn’t hold off any longer," says developer Maurino Berry on the Facepunch Games blog. "We are forcing ourselves to deal with it. We are no longer a zombie survival game!"
Zombies will now be replaced with red bears and wolves, but Facepunch reveals that they are only temporary.
"You hate them. We know," Berry continues. "They're just plugging a gap for now. All will be revealed."
The patch not only removed zombies, but brought a number of fixes, most importantly the improvement to wildlife AI. Wildlife will now react to gunshots and it will be no longer exploitable, also new resource models, player animations, and textures are implemented.
Last week Garry Newman announced that Rust has sold over 750,000 copies in a month and a half that it has been live via Steam Early Access.
