No Challenge Editor for Ryse: Son of Rome

The Xbox One exclusive Ryse: Son of Rome will not get the SmartGlass-enabled challenge editor.

Microsoft confirms that the challenge editor Crytek talked about adding to Ryse: Son of Rome has been canceled.

"After careful consideration, we have decided to cease development on Ryse: Son of Rome's challenge editor and focus on improving and expanding fans' experience with the game through both free content updates and purchased add-on packs," a Microsoft spokesperson said in a recent statement. "We look forward to sharing more details soon."

The challenge editor was going to allow players to easily create challenge levels for its Gladiator mode using Microsoft’s SmartGlass app, and upload them, giving access to other players.

Last week Microsoft revealed that it will be testing reduced digital prices and chose Ryse: Son of Rome to be their guinea pig with the game on sale for $40 ending today. Tomorrow February, 25 starts an additional sale for the game's DLC.

The Mars' Chosen Pack for Ryse: Son of Rome will launch on February 28, and is part of the game's $20 season pass or as an individual download for $9.
