Minecraft Achieves New Milestone on PS3

1 million copies of Minecraft sold in just over a month on the PS3.

Mojang on the official blog revealed that Minecraft has sold over 1 million copies since its official release on the PlayStation 3.

"Hope you are enjoying the picking and placing of blocks! Just wanted to let you know that Minecraft on PS3 recently sold over 1 million copies (that has to be some kind of record on PSN, no?). It is crazy considering the game was released just before Christmas last year. We are super grateful for the support and we are very thankful for your dedication and I hope you will like the future updates we have planned for you."

Earlier this month, the PS3 version of Minecraft was the console's best selling downloadable game in December last year, taking the number one place from games like Grand Theft Auto V and Call of Duty: Ghosts.

PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions of Minecraft are also being developed, but no release dates have been announced.

For the Xbox 360, Minecraft was the ninth best selling game of 2013, Which adds up to the more than 13 million copies sold on PC and 10 million copies sold of its mobile Pocket Edition.
