GameRanger Rescues Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Multiplayer
-----------Despite GameSpy's shutdown Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Multiplayer will continue to function.
GameRanger developer has revealed that Star Wars: Battlefront 2's multiplayer community will live on through GameSpy's closure.
Even though Battlefront's Steam page suggested that online functionality would end on May 31, Scott Kevill assures gamers that they'll still be able to play via GameRanger.
"People are already playing it just fine on GameRanger, and will continue to after May 31," Kevill said on Reddit. "I've already simulated it with GameSpy blocked and cut-off."
GameSpy is scheduled to be shutdown on May 31, announced last month. Now developers--EA is "working on finding a transition," and Rockstar is patching "specific" older titles--are searching to find solutions to keep their games online. A full list of the games affected by the GameSpy shutdown can be found on GameSpy's tech website.
