Dev Talks Dark Souls 2 PS4 and Xbox One Versions
-----------Co-director Yui Tanimura says Dark Souls II could come to PS4 and Xbox One in the future, though they haven't "put any thought into this yet".
In a recent interview co-director Yui Tanimura answered fans that were asking if the game would release for Xbox One and PS4 saying, "We have not put any thought into this yet, so I unfortunately can’t answer at this point."
Elsewhere in the interview, he explained that the decision to focus on the older consoles was made because the team felt a lot of potential remained there, and doing so would enable the studio to "deliver the game to fans as soon as possible."
Lastly he spoke about the size of the world saying it was comparable to that of the original Dark Souls but with more freedom, and reassured anyone concerned that previous director Hidetaka Miyazaki wasn't returning that there's nothing to fear.
"The basic thinking behind how Dark Souls II is developed has not changed. Team structures and members have changed a little bit, and we may think a little more together to bring ideas together. But because we are aligned in regards to what has to be communicated with the game, we have not faced any major changes internally. Miyazaki is still involved as a supervisor, and I seek advice when necessary."
Dark Souls will launch on Xbox 360 and PS3 in North America on March 11, 2014, and Europe three days later on March 14, with the PC version following shortly after.
