Controversial DLC Gets Battlefield 4 Banned In China
-----------Electronic Arts is accused of creating a form of cultural invasion.
Battlefield 4 has been banned in China after the release of the China Rising DLC. The Chinese government accused Electronic Arts, publisher of the first-person shooter, for creating a form of cultural invasion.
The first Battlefield 4 expansion, China Rising is set on the Chinese mainland, and it adds new maps, modes, vehicles, assignments, and weapons and follows the fictional story of Admiral Chang, who wants to overthrow the government.
China's Ministry of Culture wants to ban all forms of Battlefield 4, and has plans to prohibit the sale of physical copies of the game and all related downloads, demos, patches, and news. Reports say BF4 has been characterized as illegal because it "endangers national security and cultural aggression."
Electronic Arts has yet to comment on the matter. EA's problem is not the DLC getting banned in China, it is the DLC's delay in other regions. Recently EA said on the subject, "We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel your pain. We will not stop until this is right."
