Bethesda Reveals Doom Beta
-----------The previous project known as Doom 4 is now renamed to just Doom, with beta access available to those who preorder Wolfenstein: The New Order.
Bethesda has announced that anyone who preorders a copy of the upcoming Wolfenstein: The New Order will be granted access to the Doom beta. Though this is great news the publisher did not reveal when that beta might be, or what platforms it will be on. Gamers though will be required to be over 18 to participate.
"DOOM Beta invite included with game purchase. Platform/console restrictions will apply. Must be 18+ to participate."
Last April Bethesda revealed that an earlier version of Doom 4 had been scrapped and the project was being rebooted. "An earlier version of Doom 4 did not exhibit the quality and excitement that id and Bethesda intend to deliver and that Doom fans worldwide expect," said Bethesda marketing man Pete Hines at the time.
"As a result, id refocused its efforts on a new version of Doom 4 that promises to meet the very high expectations everyone has for this game and this franchise. When we're ready to talk about the Doom 4 id is making, we will let folks know."
Wolfenstein: The New Order will be released for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC on May 20.
