Battlefield 4 Game Modes Revealed
-----------Dice confirmed the upcoming FPS will be receiving new modes Obliteration and Defuse, in addition to Conquest, Domination, Rush, and Team and Squad Deathmatch.
Seven different multiplayer modes for Battlefield 4 will be available at launch , says Dice. Domination, Conquest, Rush, Team Deathmatch, and Squad Deathmatch are the returning modes from Battlefield 3, with Obliteration and Defuse being the two brand new modes.
The Defuse mode will be a 5 vs. 5 close range combat, described as "highly competitive." Each player will be given a single life per round, and they can be revived once. Teams will win by eliminating the opposing team or arming and detonating a military objective. Commander mode is not supported.
Obliteration mode is designed for 24 players on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and 32 players on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The objective in this mode is to pick up the bomb which spawns at a random location on the map. After picking it up they must drop it off at one of three opponent's objectives, arm it, and destroy the objective. Commander mode is optional for Obliteration.
After the bomb explodes, a new one randomly spawns at a new location. The game goes on until one team destroys the other side's three objectives.
"Since there's only one bomb at a time, you will often find yourself going from attacker to defender in the blink of an eye. You need to be able to predict enemy movement to defend at the right place at the right time and reclaim the offensive--or intercept the enemy to reclaim possession of the bomb," DICE said. "The constantly shifting playing field from offense to defense is partly inspired by American football--with the detonation of an enemy installation being the Battlefield equivalent of scoring a touchdown."
