Valve Has Paid Over $57 Million To Steam Workshop Creators
-----------The creators of in-game items for Team Fortress 2, Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive have made over $57 million.
Since the launch of the Steam Workshop in 2011 creators have made over $57 million for making hats, skins and items for Steam Workshop.
The Steam Workshop allows Steam users to create, upload and sell items like hats, weapons and taunts for Team Fortress 2; weapon skins and maps for Counter-Strike GO; and all manner of wearable items, skins and emoticons for Dota 2. More than 100,000 items have been uploaded to the Workshops of those three games.
Those $57 million have been paid to over 1500 creators in 75 countries, Valve revealed.
Curated item Workshops, were previously only available for valve games, but now the Workshop is now hosting curated item Workshops for Chivalry: Medieval Warfare and Dungeon Defenders: Eternity.
"Purchases of this great new content directly enables those community members to continue practicing their craft and making more awesome content," writes Valve, before going on to say that they expect more curated Workshops in "the coming weeks and months."
