Star Wars: Battlefront Sequel 'Much Bigger' Says EA

Video game developer and publisher Electronic Arts teased its intentions to make the upcoming sequel for Star Wars Battlefront "much bigger" than before.

Even though an exact launch date hasn't been officially given for the continuation in the Star Wars Battlefront series, Electronic Arts has promised the sequel's release to be in fall 2017. As far as its development team is concerned, it was stated earlier by the publisher that the EA-owned companies DICE and Motive Studios will be taking care of its creation. Also during today's investor event, EA's Jorgensen confirmed prior criticism that Star Wars Battlefront was too shallow when it came to its content, modes, and gameplay mechanics.

As it happens, the publisher's CFO announced that the team working on the follow up to Battlefront will do all it can to provide more depth by trying to enhance the Star Wars experience.

“If there was criticism, they just wanted more. So we’re taking that criticism to heart as we build the next game and trying to address any of the issues that they had.”

Although it's a safe bet to say that Electronic Arts will devote every available resource to refine the existing aspects of gameplay in Star Wars Battlefront in anticipation of its sequel, one feature that fans can't wait to have at launch that hasn't been directly addressed by the company is adding a solo campaign. As many gamers will surely remember, the title's player base was very disappointed to find out that Battlefront had no single-player mode upon its release, and they hope the feature is available in Battlefron 2 when it launches.

With luck, Electronic Arts will stay true to its claims of Star Wars Battlefront's next entry being "bigger" and "more exciting" than last year's release, and bring everything missing from 2015's installment and then some. That being said, if the sequel falls short of fans' expectations, there's always Respawn Entertainment's third-person action-adventure game inspired by the science fiction franchise and Visceral Games' take on the Star Wars universe to look forward to.

The next Star Wars Battlefront entry is currently set for launch sometime in fall 2017.
