South Park: Fractured But Whole Will Offer Female Character Option

-----------
.....

Matt Stone and Trey Parker, creators of South Park said that they have put a lot of work into making The Fractured But Whole's female playable character better fit in the game.

When the creators came on stage at Ubisoft's E3 press conference the audience came into life with high anticipation for a both fun and funny presentation. South Park: The Fractured But Whole did not fail, but a new trailer immediately started to generate buzz across the internet.

Parker and Stone have now given their fan base some reason to be excited about with the game's launch in December. During the Entertainment Weekly interview, the comedic duo have confirmed that players will have the chance to play through South Park The Fractured But Whole as a female character.

Stone continued during the interview, saying that the team has actually considered a playable female character into The Stick of Truth but the idea occurred to them too late in the development process. Once the decision was made for The Fractured But Whole, he said that adding a girl into the mix would pose some new challenges for the team.

It's interesting to see what ideas the team comes up with for different interaction between the show's characters and a female protagonist. Some of the kids on the television show, especially Cartmen, tend to make fun at some female characters because they're simply girls. This show is best known for not caring about being politically correct but Stone and Parker will likely want to keep the jokes on the elementary school level in order to stay away from anything that's regarded as too misogynistic. The fact that may help in this game will be the children wearing superhero costumes, with gender differences becoming irrelevant underneath a mask or cape.

Regardless of what will happen, it's refreshing to see a developer going out of its way to give players the ability to play as a female if they so desire. In the past week, Nintendo found themselves in a bad position when the team behind The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild revealed that they've given up on the idea of a playable female character because they didn't know what to do with Link in that situation.

Also, another developer from the same industry was once criticized for saying that it's too hard to simply draw female characters. By those calculations, at least the South Park team is ready to give it a shot.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is set to release on December 5 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
