Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date Revealed

A recent pre-order page for Red Dead Redemption 2 for a Polish retail chain has posted a very specific retail date before it got removed and replaced without any explanation.

After being officially revealed in a short teaser trailer, news have been incredibly short for Rockstar Games' much anticipated western, Red Dead Redemption 2. There's not much info regarding the game and its release date as Rockstar has been especially quiet on that subject. The developer has continued to hold on to a general Fall 2017 window, though a leak from a retail chain may have considerably narrowed that timeline to this October.

Users over on Reddit stumbled upon a pre-order page for Red Dead Redemption 2 from Polish retailer Media Markt, and although the page itself was fairly standard, fans saw that a specific launch date of October 3 was listed. Polish website CD-Action reached out to the store to confirm and an email response was provided that the game's distributor passed the date to them to post on the pre-order page. What's interesting is that October 3 is a Tuesday, a traditional release date for North America, though Rockstar has been known to globally release its games as well, so the time frame does line up.

The user Adakam8323 on Reddit was able to translate the email response which stated, "I would like to inform you that our marketing department was informed by distributor of the game that its release date is 3rd of October 2017."

One more layer of intrigue was added a bit later when Wioletta Batog, a PR representative for Media Markt, emailed CD-Action to backtrack a little by saying that no release date has yet been confirmed and that the previous person the site had spoken to was mistaken. The listing itself also got updated with the placeholder date, which is December 31, 2017.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to launch sometime later in 2017 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
