New God Of War Will Not Feature Multiplayer, Won't Be Kratos' Last Game

The forthcoming action title from Santa Monica Studio, God of War, will not include multiplayer and it won't be the main protagonist Kratos' last game in the franchise.

According to a discussion between God of War's director Cory Barlog and the Spanish gaming outlet Level Up, the upcoming game won't have a multiplayer mode, which was put initially into the franchise with the PS3 prequel, God of War: Ascension. Besides, the God of War director continued on by confirming that players won't see the last of Kratos in the new game, as he's going to appear in following releases.

Furthermore, if Level Up is to be believed, once God of War is released, it is planned to run at 30 frames-per-second on the PlayStation 4. Still, neither its developer Santa Monica Studio nor the game's publisher Sony have confirmed officially whether or not visuals will be locked at that rate or if the number is precise at all.

While one of the biggest surprises at E3 2016 was God of War's reveal, it's not shocking to find out that the upcoming action release will not have a multiplayer mode. Although developers changed some core elements in the game, such as the camera perspective to spot behind-the-shoulder and including a sidekick for Kratos with his son, obviously God of War's fans and developers alike can agree that the franchise is focusing primarily for a single player campaign on the Ghost of Sparta.

It's interesting, however, that Barlog came forth with a statement of Kratos's return in future releases, as most of the developers today are used to save small parts as a tease for what's to come after launch day.

Even though lots of information has been released since God of War's reveal last week, gamers can expect even more details to be shared as the year progresses. Meanwhile, though, fans would like to check out the game's demo once more to see if some Easter eggs contain clues as to what could be featured in the final version.

God of War is expected to be released exclusively on PlayStation 4, but no release date has been shared yet.
