Mass Effect: Andromeda Multiplayer DLC Will Be Free

A post on Twitter from a BioWare exec confirms that multiplayer maps in Mass Effect: Andromeda will be playable free of charge, much like they were in Mass Effect 3.

Those who are looking forward for playing multiplayer in Mass Effect: Andromeda will be happy to know that the general manager of BioWare, Aaryn Flynn, has confirmed the games' multiplayer maps will be playable free of change. The announcement was made via Twitter after a fan of the upcoming game asked the exec whether Mass Effect: Andromeda would have free maps, like in Mass Effect 3, or paid ones like seen in other EA games such as Battlefield 1.

The exact words from Flynn were that the Mass Effect: Andromeda multiplayer experience would be "just like ME3," which probably means that while maps will be free, players will still have the option to buy upgrades for their weapons and armor that should give them and edge over their fellow players. How the recently announced loot boxes for Mass Effect: Andromeda's multiplayer fit into this plan is yet unknown, but there's a big chance that there will be some interaction there.

The answer from Flynn to Mass Effect: Andromeda fans concerning multiplayer seem to be part of BioWare's new launch strategy of actively teasing small details about much-anticipated features of the game over Twitter. A week ago, producer Fernando Melo teased that female krogans would be selectable in Mass Effect: Andromeda multiplayer, while the story concerning the loot boxes broke much the same way.

The best thing about this strategy is seeing how devs of the game are taking obvious satisfaction in whipping up enthusiasm for their game, which isn't going to be available for another two weeks but has already kept fans busy speculating over which options will be available to them and how events in the faraway Helios cluster will turn out.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is set to arrive on March 21st for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
