Large DOOM Update Will Add Arcade Mode and New Multiplayer Match Types

A new update, which will bring an Arcade Mode alongside a ton more features is being released by Bethesda for their AAA title, DOOM.

2016's DOOM is a resounding success, even though it might have flown in the face of so many trends with the first person shooter. Savoring the fast paced, over the top action and vibrant design, the reboot of the famous FPS series is one of the best games of this year so far. And now, fans of this classic shooter will have more reasons to be happy, with the addition of an arcade mode which will be free.

The Arcade Mode switches up the gameplay in the main DOOM campaign, which gives players an extra level of customization. Users can go into every level of the campaign with their guns, runes and equipment upgrades fully unlocked. Bethesda said that players will be able to customize their gear before each run, and compete with other players to see who gets the highest score in a level.

Alongside the Arcade Mode, this update brings Classic DOOM modules to SnapMap. What this means is that players will be able to build and play maps based on the original two games. id Software created a bunch of maps which can be used by map creators as ideas for what to build.

The arcade mode addition will prove to be a hit with fans in no time at all. DOOM was praised mostly for its perfect gun-play, which made it on the best reboots of all time. Before that, id Software and Bethesda had found love for calling back to the game's roots, such as the classic aim mode. DOOM will hopefully continue keeping fans happy for a longer while.

Some of the updates feature:

Campaign: Arcade Mode will be added for all players.

Multiplayer: New FFA mode called Bloodrush, region selection in MP, entitlements are shared at the lobby instead of by invite.

SnapMap: DOOM classic campaign.

More stuff were also added, such as additional armor and weapon customization skins and other things besides that.
