Horizon: Zero Dawn Gameplay Focuses On Settlements

A direct footage of Horizon: Zero Dawn's gameplay from a preview event in Amsterdam showed up online, focusing on a new look at dynamic combat, human settlements, and more.

As seen in the video below courtesy of Game Clips and Tips, fans of Horizon: Zero Dawn are given a block of almost seven unedited minutes from a direct capture of the title's gameplay from the preview event at Guerrilla Games' headquarters in Amsterdam. In particular, the segment of gameplay provides a glimpse at a lot of different dynamic combat encounters, a new look at one of the human settlements called Mother's Cradle located within the title's full open world map, as well as scaling for one of the tall robo-dinosaurs that was seen earlier within the game's debut footage at E3 2015.

As far as the never-before-seen aspects of the trailer above are taken into consideration, it looks as if Guerrilla Games has taken great care to make sure that Horizon: Zero Dawn is filled with realistic living and breathing communities, for as the protagonist Aloy wanders among the villagers, they sometimes share snippets of speech, take part in chores that need to be done, or simply play around in merriment like people are accustomed to do. Not to mention, it shows the balance between the world of Horizon: Zero Dawn's careful tightrope walk in between the display of both futuristic technology and of the primitive wilderness.

Naturally, this is not the only in-game footage cropping up for Horizon: Zero Dawn, as Guerrilla Games have released plenty of gameplay segments involving the title's combat, such as the trailers focusing on the Thunderjaw and Snapmaw - the game's two deadly dinosaur-robot hybrids. Not to mention, the studio has given fans a decent idea of what Horizon: Zero Dawn's plot will consist of, as the developer released a cinematic story trailer about a month ago.

Taking all of this into consideration, it seems as if Guerrilla Games is prepared to give folks a unique, yet familiar experience with Horizon: Zero Dawn, for although the title's distinctive blend of pastoral majesty, tribal living, and technological wonders projects a singular style all its own, its foundation in action-RPG gameplay should allow fans to find their footing quickly.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is scheduled to launch on February 28, 2017 for PlayStation 4.
