Funny Easter Egg can be Found in New Destiny Raid

An Easter egg of an old enemy can be found in the Wrath of the Machine raid. This Easter egg was an inside joke in the Destiny community in Year 1.

It's only been a couple days since Destiny: Rise of Iron's raid, Wrath of the Machine, was released and it was conquered just two hours after it launched. Since then, players have descended on the raid and have even completed it with only three players.

Fans discovered an Easter egg inside the raid that is a nod to longtime Destiny fans. In the Server Farm room in Wrath of the Machine, a major Splicer Vandal can spawn. What's it's name you ask? Rahndel, the Perfected (or Randal the Vandal as known by fans).

This Easter egg is a reference to an enemy that could be found on Patrol in Old Russia during Year 1, who Destiny fans dubbed Randal the Vandal. Randal the Vandal was a major reaver Vandal located in the Forgotten Shore. He was a pretty low lever enemy, but a bug caused this Fallen to have an insane amount of health.

Not even when the overpowered Gjallarhorn was fired at Randal the Vandal his health would go down. Bungie eventually patched the game and returned Randal to the HP he was meant to have. He exists in the Forgotten Shore, but will go down quickly as it is meant to if players visit there today.

The Easter egg is just another piece of nostalgia Rise of Iron injects into Destiny, an expansion that is themed around acknowledging the journey fans have taken over the past two years. The inclusion of Gjallahorn in Year 3 and especially the quest to earn the exotic version of the Khvostov is laden with sentimentality.

This is not the first time Bungie has added Easter eggs into its games, in fact, the developer is known to do so even back when it was making the Halo franchise. Destiny's last raid had an elaborate Easter egg that ended up just being a basketball court that players could play around in it.

There sure are more Easter eggs that wait to be discovered by wandering players as they raid in the Rise of Iron expansion.
