Countdown for 20th Anniversary for Duke Nukem Started

A new countdown is ticking on the Duke Nukem official website and it could mean that a new game or a remake of an already made game is underway.

It's started with the official Duke Nukem website, which had a new countdown. No need to rush to any conclusions yet, as the countdown still has a lot to go, at the moment that countdown is at approximately 8 days, and no one has an idea what comes at the end of the countdown.

Gearbox Publishing has aggravated a lot more Duke activity than just the website. At least a few marketing people have also aggravated Duke's Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages. Duke's last activity on Facebook was 12 years ago, so it's more than clear that this was just a prank, or a 20th anniversary fun thing, then Gearbox wouldn't be assigning employees to work on these social media pages.

Randy Pitchford, Gearbox's CEO got involved as well, having a scripted argument with the official in-game character Duke Nukem's Twitter account. If we end up avoiding the obvious push to create a viral controversy and get to the point, we will find out that Gearbox is trying to launch something new, something Duke Nukem related. Also, let's get some of the expectations about a Duke Nukem Forever sequel down, as it is possible but not very likely to happen.

The community created buzz regarding what Gearbox could be cooking is revolving around the likelihood of a Duke Nukem 3D re-release, after all, it's been more than 6-7 years since the old Duke Nukem games were available on Steam. The old Duke Nukem games were taken down by Gearbox, and now, they were maybe waiting for some legal issues to get solved before finally putting those games back on the market. Whether it's good or bad, Duke Nukem is back, that's all that matters.
