Skyrim Remaster Will Be 'Next Gen' Experience
-----------Bethesda's vice president of marketing said that the developer wants Skyrim: Special Edition to feel like an upgrade for PS4 and XBO in every way possible.
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is one of the best selling RPGs of all time and it's still played after five years of release. Bethesda announce a Special Edition version of this game at E3 2016 is no surprise. It will come out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The game will have several graphical upgrades and it will introduce mod support on consoles for the first time. Other than that, not much is known about the remaster.
"We are trying to improve the game in any way possible. Also, we want to make it as next gen and appropriate as humanly possible," said Hines. "So performance and effects are being used to make the good look and feel as better as possible."
Skyrim could have better animations or an even better framerate on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This is only asumed due to what Hines said in the interview. All of this isn't surprising at all, but given the graphical improvements that are underway, it's excellent to hear that the overall performance and playability of Skyrim are top priority.
It sure will be interesting to see where Bethesda's visuals on consoles will end up when they compare them to the mods available on PC. Some projects like Beyond Skyrim gave PC gamers better graphics than Bethesda quite some time ago and there are move improvements coming. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One mod selection isn't still clear but it is likely to be some additional limitations compared to PC.
Bethesda is giving some attention to PC users, while all the rest goes to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. They have confirmed that Skyrim: Special Edition will work with all the existing PC mods and added that old PC saves will be transferable. PC gamers who own Skyrim: Legendary Edition will get Skyrim: Special Edition for free.
