Pokemon Uranium Has Been Taken Down After Several Nintendo Notices

-----------
.....

Pokemon's development team removed the fan-made game just a few days after the release of Pokemon Uranium. This was due to several take-down notices from Nintendo.

Games that are fan made are usually made with the best of intentions. This was the case with the recently released Pokemon Uranium, that was developed over the past nine years by fans and released free of charge. But, as the case with every fan made project is, various legal and copyright issues will inevitably force fan made games to be taken down, and this case is no exception.

Just a few days after Pokemon Uranium was released, the fan-led development team behind the game have taken it down due to being notified of several take-down notices from layers who represent Nintendo of America. No one has been personally contacted and no one has received any cease and desist letters just yet, it was more than clear what Nintendo's wishes are, and the Pokemon Uranium development team intend to respect those wishes while minimizing the risk of lawsuit.

Though the download links were taken down, the development team said that it doesn't have anything to do with fans who re-upload the game on their own hosts, and advised players to be careful when downloading the game from unofficial sources. The team also stated that, while the game is no longer available for download, there will be continued updates regarding Pokemon Uranium related news.

As much a shame it is to see nine years worth of work being flushed down the drain in just a few days, Pokemon fans will not be short of games to play. There will be more than enough Pokemon titles to keep layers busy for a while, with Niantic's mega successful Pokemon GO, as well as the upcoming November release of Pokemon Sun and Moon, so gamers should be settled in and calm.

Pokemon Uranium was available on PC but it has been taken down.
