New South Park Trailer Teases 'Coon Conspiracy'
-----------Ubisoft has released a new story trailer for South Park: The Fractured But Whole that teases a mysterious 'Coon Conspiracy' involving a missing cat called Scrambles.
The latest South Park: The Fractured But Whole trailer reveals the reason why Cartman decided everyone should begin to play superheroes instead of the medieval game they were playing in The Stick of Truth. Declaring to be "from the future," Cartman approaches the neighborhood kids with a poster for a missing cat named Scrambles, whose return will earn them a generous $100 reward. Although it's not explicitly stated, one has to imagine that the competition to find the cat first is what results in the "civil war" teased in previous trailers.
Cartman thinks Scrambles the cat is part of a worldwide conspiracy, though further details about that specific storyline aren't revealed in the trailer. Instead it changes focus to the new kid, the player-controlled character whose superpowers revolve around his mighty farts. If the Nosulus Rift wasn't enough of an evidence, the new trailer definitely confirms that flatulence will continue to play a big part in The Fractured But Whole's story and gameplay.
The trailer also reveals a potential antagonist for players to deal with in the form of Butters. Like in the show, Butters has a supervillain persona named Professor Chaos that is the polar opposite of his usual kind demeanor. A short clip in the trailer shows the kids storm Butters' secret hideout at the South Park storage sheds, only for him to release a horde of hamsters at them. The hamsters aren't very effective, but despite that, their appearance could be the start of a boss fight encounter with Professor Chaos.
Apart from these brief glimpses at what the plot will feature, the new trailer for South Park: The Fractured But Whole still leaves many questions unanswered. For instance, there's still no info as to how a female playable character will be introduced, especially since the divide between girls and boys was an major plot point in the first game. It will also be interesting to see more of how big of a role PC Principal, an important character in the last two seasons of the show, will play in The Fractured But Whole.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be available in the first quarter of 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
