Naughty Dog Working On A New "Emotionally Engaging" Action Game
-----------Followed by the success of Uncharted 4, Naughty Dog are already working on a new game which is set to include "emotionally engaging" third-person action.
With the success of the company's recent release, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, fans of Naughty Dog can be forgiven for thinking that the developer would take a well-earned break. Not only did Uncharted 4 shifted over 2.7 million copies in its first week of availability, but sales have also reflected a huge 66% increase over the previous Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. These are exactly the kind of numbers that any dev would like to see.
The impressive sales performance of Uncharted 4 have motivated devs from Naughty Dog to start working on what could be a new success. A tweet from Naughty Dog's lead game designer Emilia Schatz revealed that developers are looking for level designers, especially ones with art and modeling experience. Schatz's tweet continues as she asks designers if they want to help on ND's next game.
Naughty Dog's website explains the job further for those hired will have to design and produce fun and emotionally engaging third-person action and gameplay and levels, from high concept planning to object placement and scripting. Designers will also create environmental layouts in the form of simplified level geometry, and then perform extensive level playthrough and layout iteration and design and champion gameplay systems, conventions, and scenarios.
The job posting is obviously regarding the new game's single player side and even though there was no mention of its multiplayer, Uncharted 4 had a big one which Naughty Dog may well be considering on including that feature in the next game.
A sequel to The Last of Us 2 makes sense given the positive reviews and sales. Earlier this year Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann has confirmed that development on TLOU2 would begin if Uncharted 4's DLC had been completed.
