Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Officially Confirmed for 2017

-----------
.....

During PlayStation Experience 2016, Sony Interactive Entertainment officially announced the existence of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite and its release in 2017.

Regardless of its developers denying rumors of a new installment in the fan-favorite crossover fighting franchise not being in the works, Sony used its PlayStation Experience 2016 event to officially announce the release of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Naturally, there was much joy and excitement after its reveal. As seen in the post on Twitter from PlayStation's official account below, the first confirmed Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite characters for play are series regulars Iron Man, Ryu, and Mega Man, including a brand new hero in Carol Danvers (AKA Captain Marvel).

Although the teaser is sort of limited because it only gives a short cinematic of the characters fighting, it's safe to say that it's just enough to get fans of the franchise excited for the upcoming release.

Shortly after its official reveal, the chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios, Shawn Layden confirmed that PlayStation Experience 2016 would be host to world premiere gameplay at the Capcom Cup 2016. However, Sony's executive didn't reveal any more details as to what kind of content fans should expect to see.

The confirmation of Marvel vs. Capcom was not the only announcement associated with the series, as Layden went on and stated that its predecessor in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is currently available on the PlayStation 4. Fans who are interested in getting the title can do so by downloading it digitally on the PlayStation Network.

Multiple sources recently told the outlet Polygon that Marvel vs. Capcom's next installment would be detailed at PSX 2016 and that it will release in 2017, so it's good to see that this speculation didn't fall through completely. Let's hope there will be more of the game's roster as time progresses, including the identity of the mysterious figure at the end of the teaser.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is scheduled to launch in 2017.
