L.A. Noire
-----------Initially designed for Playstation 3 and X box 360, Rockstar games makes an unprecedented move to only surprise us with the L.A. Noir being released for PC in future as well. Team Bondi definitely knew his job when developing this masterfully created game, which can be classified as appalling detective story fully loaded with crime, action and adventure. Set in the 1940s, L.A. Noir, as the name suggests, uses a stylistic feature practiced in cinematography in the fifties, and it renders the rare opportunity to be played in black-and-white which only adds to the cloud of mystery unraveling in the game. The hero being a war veteran, Cole Phelps, whose job as a detective is to find the convicts and relentlessly show their deserved place in the ‘idyllic’ town of flourish and prosperity-Los Angeles, which is on the edge of crime blooming, corruption and murders.
One can easily compare the L.A. Noir with a movie, since its exquisite animation contributes to the niche of a film complicity where me, you, or anybody else who’s playing it, has the satisfaction of being the hero actually. As a reminder that crime doesn’t pay even though it’s tempting, but not beneficial (or it would be if not for the detective Cole Phleps) the covering of your tracks becomes impossible with him trailing your traces. One can notice without arguing, the skillful and powerful shading of the characters, their facial animation and the fine texture. One can’t really tell apart which graphic is better: the one for Playstation or X box due to the neat and consistent match of the face and the body. Sold in three million copies, L.A. Noir is ranked as one of the seven best games in 2011. Beyond a doubt, it was worth seven years of designing it!
