Horizon: Zero Dawn Won't Have Microtransactions
-----------Guerrilla Games has revealed that it's upcoming PS4 exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn won't feature any microtransactions, despite the game having lots of RPG elements.
There's plenty of things to be done in the upcoming PS4 exclusive. In addition to large robot dinosaurs that lead character Aloy can tame, kill for resources, and even climb all over, Horizon: Zero Dawn also features RPG mechanics such as crafting. With that much content packed into the game's open-world, players might need a lot of time to unlock and access it all.
However, it won't be possible for players to speed up that process by paying a little extra, as Horizon: Zero Dawn developer Guerrilla Games has now confirmed that the game will not feature any microtransactions.
The confirmation that Horizon: Zero Dawn won't feature microtransactions comes from the Guerrila Games Twitter account. After a fan asked the question "will there be micro transactions in the game" and whether players will just be hunting and scavenging for parts and upgrades, the developers' answer was that its highly anticipated game will not feature microtransactions at all.
Lots of fans will be pleased to know that Horizon: Zero Dawn is bucking the growing trned of microtransactions in games. Although the PS4 title is single-player, and that's why it would avoid any 'pay to win' accusations levelled at multiplayer games with microtransactions (such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered), microtransactions are still seen as controversial.
Similar to the case of Assassin's Creed, a game which featured microtransactions and was mostly single-player experience, players weren't satisfied with some aspects of the game which seemed to be designed to get players to spend more money. Players are concerned that other games which also use the microtransaction business model to make a little extra cash will be engineered to be especially hard and will feel like a 'grind' and may even feel less interesting as a result.
Horizon: Zero Dawn will launch on February 28, 2017 in North America, and on March 1, 2017 in the United Kingdom for PlayStation 4.
