Halo 5: Forge Coming to PC in September, Alongside Anvil's Legacy Content Update

-----------

Microsoft made two huge announcements for Halo 5, revealing when will Halo 5: Forge launch on PC and giving details on the free Anvil's Legacy content update.

Back in May, Microsoft made an announcement that Halo 5: Forge is going to arrive on Windows 10 PC, providing gamers more control over their content creation in Halo5: Guardians. Today, Microsoft said the wait is almost over, stating that Halo 5: Forge will launch on the same date that the game's Anvil's Legacy content update hits Xbox One, which is on September 8.

Forge serves as a map maker in Halo 5. On PC, Microsoft has teamed up with SkyBox Labs to add mouse and keyboard support for manipulating and placing highly refined objects and greater graphic fidelity, including support for 4K displays. Forge will also let PC gamers to play custom matches for up to 16 players and the release comes with a new content browser that reaches both PC and Xbox One.

Halo 5 players will have the ability to use Forge to download levels no matter which platform they were created on. Theoretically speaking, a gamer could publish a level on PC and after that immediately fire up his/her Xbox One and begin to play. Halo 5: Guardians launched to great success last year, generating $400 million within one week of release, which made it the fastest-selling Xbox One exclusive to date. Since then, Microsoft and 343 Industries have continued to release free content updates for the game, the latest of which, Anvil's Legacy, will hit September 8.

As it seems, Anvil's Legacy will bring lots of improvements to Forge on Xbox One to coincide with the PC release. This includes a new content browser that will make it easier to find community creations. The update will also bring new arena and WarZone maps on consoles, named Mercy and Temple. Additional features include new weapons and customization options, including Sound Dampener attachments and armor skins.

Halo 5: Guardians is available now on Xbox One. Halo 5: Forge releases on PC September 8.
