Gears of War 4 Update Fixes Some Multiplayer Issues

Video game developer The Coalition released an update for the Xbox One version of Gears of War 4 that fixes some of the game's persistent multiplayer problems.

Ever since the official launch of Gears of War 4 earlier this week, Xbox One players have been encountering stuttering at the start of its multiplayer matches, in addition to when they take part of long, uninterrupted sessions. When this was discovered, Gears of War 4's developer The Coalition updated the title's list of known issues and included a strange workaround for the "hitching" problem that caused players to "Open four other games (allow them to load past the initial splash screen) and then load Gears of War 4."

The Coalition has recently released a 218 MB patch for Gears of War 4 that is supposed to resolve this particular "hitching" bug permanently, as well as other multiplayer gameplay problems on Xbox One, undoubtedly delighting fans who no longer have to use the bizarre workaround described above. With that being said, the game's PC version did not have to receive the update, as it did not have this problem.

In regards to the latest patch for Gears of War 4, the community director for the game series, Adam Fletcher said, "This will help iron out an user still experiencing this that has not done any of the workarounds we posted about the other day." As for the remaining issues such as the lengthy matchmaking times and the game not saving changes made to audio settings, The Coalition announced that work is still being done in order to fix such problems.

Additionally, The Coalition announced that this specific Gears of War 4 update will disable offline LAN multiplayer crossplay between Xbox One and PC temporarily until the "next big large title update." However, it's worth noting that online crossplay has not been affected be the patch and can be played without any problems.

Gears of War 4 is currently available for PC and Xbox One.
