First Free DLC Character Coming To Battleborn This Month

Gearbox has recently revealed their unique FPS MOBA Battleborn to the gaming public, but that didn't stop the developers from releasing brand new content for the game.

The team of Gearbox have introduced Alani to the shooter, a warrior monk who's also a healer. The striking fighter is the game's first of five new characters, which will be included in the season pass. Players can purchase her with the in-game currency (47,500 credits) or by spending a Hero Key. Regardless of how they purchase the character, it will be available at the end of May.

However, if players own the Digital Deluxe or Season Pass, they can get access to Alani on May 24th to get the feel for how she plays.

Alani is a member of the Eldrid Faction. She's a healer by nature, but also trained to fight if the situation calls for it. Her people have innate relationship with the sea, therefore she's able to infuse water in her healing abilities and attacks. She has a bond with Rendain as well, due the fact that he stole the oceans from her planet.

In addition to the new character, Battleborn will be introducing Hero Keys, which are enabled with the purchase of the Digital Deluxe and Season pass, and will instantly unlock a character of their choosing, including Alani.

"If you complete the challenge objective or reach the required Command Rank at any time after unlocking a hero using a Hero Key, then that Hero Key will be returned to you and you can then use that Hero Key to unlock another hero."

Players that were participating in the recent PlayStation 4 Open Beta will receive one Hero Key as well, and as a celebration of the recent release of the game, Gearbox is holding a Double XP event from May 20th to May 25th. This will affect both story missions and the competitive multiplayer side, allowing players to level up their character and command rank respectively.
