Fallout 4 Far Harbor Experiences Problems On PS4
-----------Fallout 4's expansion, Far Harbor, has only been out for a day and PS4 owners are going mental reporting that this DLC causes them some major performance and frame rate issues.
Out of the three Fallour 4 DLC packs, Far Harbor is the one that caught the attention of most fans. As it is the largest expansion for Fallout 4, players were so eager to play the Far Harbor DLC that upon its release yesterday, one gamer proved that the map is so big, that it takes 30 minutes to walk across. While this user crossed the map in 30 minutes, PS 4 users should be lucky if they get through a quarter of the map in that time.
A Reddit thread was started just a few hours after release of the Far Harbor DLC. A lot of players were vocally reporting many issues regarding the frame rate and performance of the game. Some gamers even noted that the frame rate drops below 20 FPS for a good amount of time in the Far Harbor landmass, which is way below the "solid 30 FPS" Bethesda had promised on the Fallout 4 base game.
The main reason for this serious drop of frame rate seems to be the game's radioactive fog, which is a unique feature to the Far Harbor expansion. This fog is a key feature and plot point of Far Harbor, so removing it isn't an optional solution for solving these performance issues.
A small amount of PC users also reported some similar performance issues, even though the PS4 ones seem to have affected their users far more. The cause for these PC "issues" might be based on the specifications of each PC. Interestingly enough, Xbox One users haven't reported any problems regarding the performance, which seems that this is a PlayStation - only bug and not and issue with the Far Harbor DLC on all platforms.
