Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC Changes on Release Day
-----------Namco decided to update Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2's Steam listing, replacing the DLC plans that were originally promised with something less exciting.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2's release marks Bandai Namco's first attempt at following up the unexpected wester success of Dragon Ball Xenoverse. A lot of gamers originally assumed to be a niche offering quickly became a surprise hit, with the announcement of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 having left many fans drooling over the prospect of a more refined Xenoverse experience.
Even though it's too early to tell how enjoyable the experience is, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has only been available for less than 24 hours and there is some concerning behavior outside of hte gmae that points toward internal problems. Namco and Dimps were very clear about plans for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC in the months leading up to the game's launch, promising free DLCs to anyone who bought the title and a year of support after its release. Now, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2's Steam listing has changed on the day of the game's release and it's not an encouraging adjustment.
Bandai Namco have yet to comment on the situation, but as it stands now, things don't look so good for the publisher, as the company is breaking their promise to fans only after they have bought the game already. This is a move without any precedent in modern gaming , and having the extended universe support for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, it's a baffling one. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 had the makings of the first installment in what could be a long line of sequels given the first game's success. It would be odd for Bandai Namco to get cold feet about supporting it as much as the publisher had promised.
It's a little early to break out the pitchforks, but the situation regarding Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a situation that needs to be kept under control. If Bandai Namco go back on the promises they made to support the newest game, it will be a serious breach of trust that fans will inevitably feel cheated and betrayed by. Winning back the trust of gamers is a bit too much, something that a lot of gaming companies fall short off.
