Destiny: Rise of Iron Cosmodrone Will Feature New Areas & Enemies
-----------Destiny's fans will be taken on a virtual tour of a new and improved Cosmodrone, revealing several new additions and tweaks that will arrive with Rise of Iron.
Almost two years have passed since Destiny got released and a year since the launch of its most recent expansion, the Taken King. Players are now more eager to get more content and they will receive it in September, when Rise of Iron is made available.
Marketing efforts for Rise of Iron are already being made by Bungie, and from the look of the virtual tour that fans took a few days ago, a lot has changed in the place since the appearance of the base game.
Players will almost immediately notice that the area has plunged into the depths of winter, with snow and ice covering every surface. This is a part of the Norse influence on the Rise of Iron expansion which was summarized to a three core elements: snow, axes and beards.
It's not just the outward appearance of the Cosmodrom that has changed though. Bungie has also made some impactful tweaks to various sections of the location, and since it's where Destiny players cut their teeth, they will be instantly recognizable to anyone who's spent time with the game.
The Fallen Walker event in The Divide was removed and replaced with a Warsat event, and an enormous husk of a four legged tank buried under a layer of snow, acting as a reminder of the fight for veteran players.
There also was an indication that the Rocketyard is expanded with more areas accessible to players. Even though the hosts of the stream did't actually explore those parts of the map, anyone watching it could see a yellow bar enemy that carried a void shield.
Enemies have already taken over large swatches of the Cosmodrone. SIVA Infected Fallen are called Splicers, much like the Taken enemy class from the Taken King, and the techno virus has affected the Dregs, Shanks, Captains, Servitors and Vandals.
It is difficult to get a sense of scope of the content included in Rise of Iron just from a stream, what Bungie have shown was pretty compelling. A lot of players have dumped Destiny for The Devision earlier this year, but since Ubisoft's effort has struggled greately after its successful launch, a great expansion might convince a great number of them to return to the game.
